If you say "Study English" then you missed out the subject, which is needed in English. A noun or a noun phrase can be put like this in your clause; but not for a verb-object phrase.

English, unlike Chinese, is quite strict in grammar. Chinese is comprehension language while not quite detail on grammar. Don't mix them up.
